The Basics of Our Faith as Christians
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe in one God, the maker of heaven and earth, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his vicarious and atoning death, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory.
We believe that all people have sinned, and that sin alienates us from God and brings about death. People’s only hope of redemption is through the blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, which he shed on the cross as he died. We believe that no one can earn their salvation, but that salvation is a gracious gift of God, received by faith, and made possible only by the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross. We believe in and practice the holy ritual of baptism by immersion in water, which signifies the believer’s death, burial, and resurrection to new life with Jesus, and we celebrate the Lord’s Supper weekly to remember Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection until he returns.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved; those that are saved to the resurrection of life and those that are unsaved to the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
